Anastasia,
I have three wonderful sisters and two brothers whom
I love very much. I can't imagine a day without them. I stumbled upon your beautiful words. I am so sorry about the loss of your sister. Six years ago my mother died in my father's arms taking her last breath just before they had planned a little walk before dinner. So many times he would say to me, "She never said goodbye." They would have been married 60 years. Just recently he met a woman 14 years younger and told us he has met the love of his life. He is 92. We were happy that he wasn't sad about our mom and that he was having such a good time. Things took a bad turn as my father became controlling and possessive. She left my dad and we saw him mourning again. Recently he was put in the hospital for heart problems and the doctor described Takosubo. Reading about it I connected with the issue of anger that they say patients experience. So here I am visiting with you. I don't know you, but I hope you get this and that your are doing better.

So how do we fix this? The pattern of bohemians moving into lower class neighborhoods inhabited by an disenfranchised ethnic minority is a cycle that has been going on as long as there have been bohemians. Where do these people live? How do they not destroy the neighborhoods that they join? People always complain that hipsters ruin everything, but can you really blame folks for looking for cheap rent?

How do you see this in a broader historical context: the (sometimes government sponsored) 'white flight' of mid 20th c, the urban decay, race riots?

Is it in some ways the moneyed ruling class (mostly white) 'reclaiming' urban America? Aren't there any positive aspects of minorities and taking a stake in suburban areas?

Does it look like another swing of an economic pendulum? Like some oscillation or ripples in a big, fucked up pond?

ISN'T THIS ALL MORE COMPLICATED THAN IT SEEMS?

I never knew that resting would heal people. When Nancy Drew or Jesus got cholera, my instincts were to hurry forward and hope to reach a town with medicine. Unsurprisingly, my people always died well before Oregon.

#10: A few holes into the second round, a man will turn his back on his companions and piss...about halfway between the tee box and the woods. It's okay if a drop or two gets on his hand, pants, or shoes.
